The San Francisco 49ers will be without Nick Bosa for their Week 3 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals after the defensive lineman was ruled out with a calf injury.
Bosa did not practice during the week and suffered the injury during his individual warmup before Thursday's practice.
Bosa could miss several weeks
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Bosa could miss a few weeks, although the team has not established a definitive timetable for his return.
The 49ers are also discussing whether to place Bosa on injured reserve, with the decision depending on his recovery timeline.
More defensive absences
San Francisco also ruled out Romello Height with a hand injury and James Thompson Jr. with an ankle injury. Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson will also miss the game.
Bosa's absence represents a major challenge for a 49ers defense that enters Week 3 with a 2-0 record and will face Arizona without one of its most important defensive stars.
