The Atlanta Falcons have suffered another defensive setback ahead of Thursday Night Football against Green Bay after placing cornerback A.J. Terrell on injured reserve.
Terrell suffered a groin injury during Atlanta's loss to the Carolina Panthers and will miss at least four games.
A.J. Terrell sidelined for several weeks
Terrell left the Carolina game during the first quarter. He was initially evaluated for a possible concussion, but testing ruled that out before the groin injury was confirmed.
The cornerback had played in Atlanta's first two games of the season and recorded six tackles and two passes defended before being placed on injured reserve.
C.J. Henderson expected to step in
After Terrell left the Panthers game, C.J. Henderson took over alongside Mike Hughes.
Henderson is now expected to have a larger role while Terrell recovers. Atlanta also has options such as Avieon Terrell, A.J.'s younger brother, who has primarily played in the slot.
Falcons add Zach Harrison
To fill the roster spot created by Terrell's move to injured reserve, Atlanta promoted defensive lineman Zach Harrison from the practice squad.
The move gives the Falcons additional defensive-line depth as the team continues dealing with several injuries early in the season.
Atlanta will visit Green Bay on Thursday, September 24, at Lambeau Field. The Falcons' defense will have to adjust quickly without one of its most important cornerbacks.
