The Philadelphia Eagles have suffered a major setback heading into Week 2 after placing starting left guard Landon Dickerson on injured reserve.
Dickerson had been dealing with a knee injury and played through the issue during Philadelphia's Week 1 victory over Washington. After the game, however, the veteran acknowledged that he was not playing at his best and that additional evaluation was necessary.
How long will Landon Dickerson be out?
Because Dickerson has been placed on injured reserve, he must miss at least four games before becoming eligible to return. He will therefore miss Philadelphia's upcoming games against Tennessee, Chicago, the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville.
If his recovery progresses as expected, Dickerson could be eligible to return in Week 6 against Carolina.
Who will replace Dickerson?
The Eagles will now have to make adjustments along the interior of their offensive line. Drew Kendall is considered a leading candidate to take over at left guard, while Willie Lampkin could also be involved in the competition.
Dickerson's absence is significant for Philadelphia. The veteran has been one of the key pieces of the Eagles' offensive line and has earned three consecutive Pro Bowl selections.
The Eagles will now prepare for Week 2 while searching for the right combination to protect Jalen Hurts and maintain their physical identity on offense.
