49ers Lose DeMarcus Robinson to Likely High Ankle Sprain

The San Francisco 49ers suffered another setback at wide receiver during their 35-13 victory over the Miami Dolphins after DeMarcus Robinson left the game with an ankle injury.

Robinson suffered the injury during the first half and was unable to return. After the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan said the initial diagnosis was likely a high ankle sprain.

Robinson could miss time

A high ankle sprain can require a longer recovery than a conventional ankle sprain, meaning San Francisco will need additional evaluations before determining how long Robinson could be sidelined.

The injury creates another challenge for the 49ers, who had already lost rookie De'Zhaun Stribling to a season-ending injury.

49ers finished with limited receiver depth

The situation became particularly difficult during Sunday's game. San Francisco finished the matchup with only three available wide receivers: Deebo Samuel, Jacob Cowing and KhaDarel Hodge.

The 49ers will now evaluate their receiver group and could make roster moves to add depth at the position.

San Francisco moves to 2-0

Despite the injuries, San Francisco dominated Miami and improved to 2-0 behind strong performances from Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey.

The 49ers now have several days to evaluate Robinson and determine what adjustments will be necessary before their next game.
