The New England Patriots have added veteran defensive tackle DaQuan Jones to their roster following their season-opening loss to Seattle.
Jones takes the roster spot created when wide receiver A.J. Brown was placed on injured reserve following his ankle injury.
DaQuan Jones reunites with Mike Vrabel
The signing also brings Jones back together with head coach Mike Vrabel. The two previously worked together during Jones' time with the Tennessee Titans.
The 34-year-old defensive tackle enters New England with 12 seasons of NFL experience. He has also played for the Carolina Panthers and Buffalo Bills and brings significant experience and size to the Patriots' defensive front.
New England adjusts after losing A.J. Brown
Jones' arrival comes as the Patriots prepare to move forward without Brown, who was placed on injured reserve because of a high-ankle sprain. Brown must miss at least four games before becoming eligible to return.
New England's offense will now need greater contributions from players such as Romeo Doubs, Mack Hollins, DeMario Douglas and Kyle Williams while Brown is sidelined.
The Patriots will host the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2, giving the team an immediate opportunity to respond after its season-opening loss and begin adjusting to its new roster situation.
