Odell Beckham Jr. is getting another opportunity to make an impact in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota elevated the veteran receiver from its practice squad for Sunday's Week 5 matchup against the New Orleans Saints on October 11.
The move comes at an important time for the Vikings, who are still monitoring the availability of their top two receivers, Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Both players are listed as questionable on the injury report.
Beckham could play an important role
The 33-year-old receiver signed with Minnesota's practice squad on October 7. He now has an opportunity to show that he can still contribute to an NFL offense.
Beckham is familiar with head coach Kevin O'Connell from their time together with the Los Angeles Rams, where they won Super Bowl LVI during the 2021 season. Beckham caught a touchdown in that championship game before leaving with an injury.
Over his NFL career, Beckham has recorded 575 receptions, 7,987 receiving yards and 59 touchdowns in 122 games. His experience could prove valuable to a Minnesota team looking to maintain its passing-game production.
Vikings await updates on their star receivers
Justin Jefferson is recovering from an ankle injury, while Jordan Addison is dealing with a hamstring issue. Elevating Beckham gives Minnesota another option if either receiver is unavailable.
The Vikings enter the matchup with a 4-0 record and will look to preserve their unbeaten start. For Beckham, playing in New Orleans also carries special significance because he was born in the city and played college football at LSU.
