The Seattle Seahawks are looking to strengthen their backfield after placing rookie running back Jadarian Price on injured reserve because of a chest injury.
As part of their search for additional depth, Seattle is expected to work out veteran running back Joe Mixon, who is currently a free agent.
Seattle needs more backfield depth
Price had begun receiving opportunities during his rookie season, but his injury forced the Seahawks to explore alternatives while they also await the return of Zach Charbonnet, who is recovering from a knee injury.
Seattle promoted Velus Jones Jr. from its practice squad to temporarily strengthen the running back group.
Mixon would provide immediate experience
Mixon, 30, spent his first seven NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals before playing for the Houston Texans. In 2024, he rushed for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns in 14 games.
The veteran missed the 2025 season because of a foot injury and was released by Houston in March 2026. Seattle is now exploring whether he could provide additional depth and experience in the backfield.
