Kenneth Walker III powers Kansas City
Walker was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month after becoming the engine of a Kansas City offense that opened the season 3-0.
The running back enters October with 360 rushing yards and four total touchdowns through three games. His production makes him the NFL's leading rusher heading into the new month.
Brock Purdy shines for San Francisco
Purdy earned the NFC award after leading San Francisco to a perfect 3-0 start. The quarterback completed 60 of 83 passes for 789 yards, nine touchdowns and just one interception.
Purdy also contributed 93 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. He finished September without taking a sack and posted a remarkable 133.1 passer rating.
Other major winners
Gregory Rousseau was named AFC Defensive Player of the Month, while Jevon Holland earned the NFC defensive honor. Evan McPherson and Myles Price were recognized as the AFC and NFC Special Teams Players of the Month.
Among rookies, Kansas City's Kahlil Benson won Offensive Rookie of the Month, while Tennessee linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. received the defensive award.
