Burrow was limited during the first part of the week because of back soreness, but he completed a full practice Friday and showed positive progress heading into the Bengals' Week 2 game.
Burrow is trending toward another start
Head coach Zac Taylor expressed confidence in Burrow's availability after speaking with the quarterback and watching his progress throughout the week.
The injury received attention after Burrow took a hit during Cincinnati's Week 1 victory over Tampa Bay. He finished that game and is now expected to remain behind center against Houston.
Bengals prepare a backup plan
Even with Burrow expected to play, Cincinnati has taken precautions and could elevate quarterback Josh Johnson from the practice squad.
If Burrow were unexpectedly unable to play, Joe Flacco would be the primary alternative, while Johnson could serve as the emergency quarterback.

The Bengals enter Week 2 with a 1-0 record after defeating Tampa Bay in their season opener.
Cincinnati will visit Houston on Sunday, September 20, at 1:00 PM ET, with Burrow expected to lead the offense as the Bengals attempt to make it two victories in a row.
