Giants colocan a Paulson Adebo en IR y firman a Nikko Reed

Giants Place Paulson Adebo on IR and Sign Nikko Reed

The New York Giants have made a significant move in their secondary ahead of Week 2, placing cornerback Paulson Adebo on injured reserve.

Adebo is dealing with a knee injury and will miss at least four games. The veteran cornerback appeared on New York's injury report during the week and did not practice.

Giants lose Adebo for at least four games

Adebo played only 10 defensive snaps during the Giants' Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, along with eight snaps on special teams. New York will now have to adjust its cornerback rotation while he recovers.

The timing is significant because the Giants are preparing to face the Los Angeles Rams, while Deonte Banks is also dealing with a calf injury.

Nikko Reed joins the Giants

To address the loss of Adebo, New York signed cornerback Nikko Reed from the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad.

Reed entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent and appeared in five games for the Chargers as a rookie, primarily contributing on special teams.

He brings college experience from Oregon and Colorado and now has an opportunity to compete for a larger role in New York's secondary.

Giants face a challenging matchup against the Rams

Adebo's absence, combined with Banks' injury situation, could force New York to rely on less experienced defensive backs against a Los Angeles offense featuring receivers such as Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.

The Giants will visit the Rams on Monday, September 21, in the final game of Week 2, giving the coaching staff several days to establish its new defensive rotation.
