The Pittsburgh Steelers will face the New England Patriots without wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., who has officially been ruled out because of a foot injury.
Pittman first appeared on Pittsburgh's injury report Wednesday and missed practice Thursday and Friday. The Steelers downgraded him from questionable to out on Saturday.
Pittman will miss his second game with Pittsburgh
The injury comes shortly after Pittman's Steelers debut. In Pittsburgh's Week 1 victory over Atlanta, he finished with three receptions for 58 yards on three targets.
His absence creates an opportunity for other receivers to take on larger roles in an offense led by Aaron Rodgers.
Roman Wilson could see more targets
Roman Wilson is one of the players who could benefit from Pittman's absence after receiving six targets in the season opener.
Rookie Germie Bernard could also receive more opportunities in the receiving rotation after being held without a catch in his NFL debut.
Steelers look to start 2-0
Pittsburgh travels to Foxborough with a 1-0 record after defeating the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1.
The Steelers will face New England on Sunday, September 20, at 1:00 PM ET at Gillette Stadium.
Pittman's absence will force Pittsburgh to distribute his offensive opportunities among its remaining receivers as the Steelers attempt to maintain their perfect start.
