In a thrilling game that kept fans on the edge of their seats, the Buffalo Bills edged the Detroit Lions by a score of 48-42. Led by Josh Allen, who shined with both his arm and his legs, the Bills managed to snap the Lions' impressive 11-game winning streak, the longest in franchise history.
Allen was the standout figure of the game, completing 23 of 34 passes for a season-high 362 yards and throwing two second-half touchdown passes to Khalil Shakir and Ray Davis. He also ran for 68 yards on 11 attempts and scored two rushing touchdowns. This performance extended his NFL record by throwing multiple touchdowns and rushing for multiple scores in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Jared Goff had a memorable performance for the Lions, matching his personal best with five touchdown passes, including one to Jameson Williams with just 12 seconds remaining. However, hopes for a comeback faded when Detroit failed to recover the onside kick needed to attempt a last-ditch shot.
With this victory, the Bills (11-3) consolidate their dominance in the AFC East, while the Lions (12-2) see their lead in the NFC North compromised, giving the Minnesota Vikings a chance to tie for the top of the division. Buffalo also broke a franchise record by scoring 30-plus points in eight consecutive games, a feat not seen since the 2013 Broncos.
The Bills' defense, however, struggled, allowing 40-plus points in consecutive games, something only the 1966 New York Giants had previously accomplished.
