The Minnesota Vikings opened Week 4 preparation with a major concern as Justin Jefferson missed Wednesday's practice because of an ankle injury.
Jefferson suffered the injury during Minnesota's Week 3 victory over Tampa Bay and left the game after playing only a limited number of snaps.
Jefferson is considered day-to-day
Head coach Kevin O'Connell described Jefferson's status as day-to-day and indicated that the team will not rush the star receiver back before he is ready.
Jefferson finished the game against the Buccaneers with two receptions for 32 yards before being ruled out because of the injury.
Minnesota will monitor his progress
The Vikings will face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, and Jefferson still has a chance to recover in time to play.
However, missing the first practice of the week is an important development that Minnesota will continue to monitor. The team will evaluate whether Jefferson can move and perform at the level required before making a final decision on his availability.
