Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott showed his more human side by admitting that the 2024 season has been the most difficult of his career. In an interview with David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, Prescott spoke candidly about the emotional and physical challenges he has faced, especially after being sidelined by injury and watching his team fall heavily to the Houston Texans last Monday.
"The other day after that game, I guess reality hit me. I shed a few tears because this is going to hurt, it's going to be horrible at times," a visibly shaken Prescott confessed. "I don't want anything right now other than for it to stop being horrible."
A season to forget
2024 has not been kind to Prescott or the Cowboys. Before his injury, the quarterback was putting up numbers that reflect one of his worst statistical seasons: 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns and 8 interceptions, with a 64.7% completion rate. Although Prescott said he felt more mentally prepared than ever, he acknowledged that neither he nor the team were able to execute at their usual level.
"I didn't play at my level, I lost the ball more than I should have. It was unusual," he explained. Prescott also commented that, although he understood the game better and read the plays clearly, that was not reflected in the results.
Lights and shadows in Prescott's life
Although his performance on the field has been disappointing, Prescott finds solace in his personal life. The 31-year-old player shared that outside of football he has lived moments of immense happiness, including the birth of his son and his engagement. However, this emotional contrast has made it even more difficult to process the sporting failure.
