Aaron Jones Misses Practice as Vikings Monitor Knee Injury

The Minnesota Vikings have a significant concern in their rushing attack after Aaron Jones missed Wednesday's practice because of a knee injury.

Jones finished Minnesota's victory over the Chicago Bears wearing a knee brace after rushing for 105 yards on 23 carries. The Vikings are now monitoring his condition ahead of Sunday's matchup with Tampa Bay.

Injury comes after a big performance

Jones was one of the key contributors in Minnesota's 9-3 victory over Chicago. His rushing production helped the Vikings control the game in rainy conditions.

However, Jones finished the game dealing with a knee issue and was seen wearing a brace afterward.

Kevin O'Connell remains hopeful

Head coach Kevin O'Connell said Jones feels good and is moving normally, but the Vikings want to continue treating the knee before increasing his workload.

Minnesota will continue monitoring the running back throughout the week before making a final determination about his availability against Tampa Bay.

Vikings have limited backfield depth

The situation is especially important because Jordan Mason is already on injured reserve and DeeJay Dallas is also dealing with a toe injury.

If Jones cannot play, rookie Demond Claiborne would be asked to take on a much larger role in Minnesota's rushing attack.

The Vikings will visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, September 27, with Jones' status likely to be one of the team's biggest injury storylines throughout the week.
