Pete Carroll becomes the new head coach of the Raiders

Veteran coach Pete Carroll returns to the NFL after a year out of retirement to take over the Las Vegas Raiders, becoming the team's fourth head coach in the past five years.

A new era for the Raiders
After a disappointing season under Antonio Pierce as coach, in which the Raiders finished with a 4-13 record and a 10-game losing streak, the front office decided to take a different direction. Pete Carroll was the choice to lead the team in search of better results.

Proven experience
Carroll, 73, is one of the most experienced and successful coaches in NFL history. Before this new challenge, he was head coach of three teams:

New York Jets (1994)
New England Patriots (1997-1999)
Seattle Seahawks (2010-2023)
During his time with the Seahawks, Carroll managed to establish himself as one of the best coaches in the league, leading the team to 170 wins in 291 games, including one tie. His greatest achievement was winning Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014.

In his last season as coach in Seattle (2023), the team finished with a 9-8 record and missed the playoffs, marking the second time in three years that the Seahawks failed to advance to the postseason.

Contract with the Raiders
According to reports, Pete Carroll signed a three-year contract with an option for a fourth, indicating the confidence that the Las Vegas organization has in his experience and ability to revitalize the team.

With this appointment, Carroll becomes the oldest head coach in the NFL, surpassing Andy Reid (66 years old), and will make history as the longest-serving coach to lead a team in the league.
