Week 13 of the 2024 NFL season will mark the traditional Thanksgiving Day, with three games that promise excitement and classic rivalries. Since 1934, the Detroit Lions have hosted this special day, joined by the Dallas Cowboys since 1966. Here is the card for this year:
Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions (CBS)
The first game will be at Ford Field, where the Lions will host the Chicago Bears. Although on paper it seems like an uneven matchup, divisional games always have surprises. The Lions, led by Dan Campbell, are looking to establish themselves as contenders in the NFC, while facing promising rookie Caleb Williams, who will try to complicate their path.
New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys (FOX)
The second game of the day will pit the Giants against the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. This NFC East duel has lost its luster due to injuries to starting quarterbacks Dak Prescott and Daniel Jones. Instead, we'll see Cooper Rush take on Tommy DeVito, which leaves both teams at the bottom of the division.
Miami Dolphins vs. Green Bay Packers (NBC)
The Thanksgiving Day finale promises to be the highlight. The Miami Dolphins, on a three-game winning streak, will visit historic Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers. This clash has important playoff implications and will test both teams in prime time.
Thanksgiving classics in the NFL
Since its inception, the Lions have played 84 times on Thanksgiving (37-45-2 record), while the Cowboys have participated in 56 games, with a favorable record of 33-22-1. This day will also be historic, as it will break the tie between the Packers and the Bears, both with 37 games played on Thanksgiving.
On the other hand, the Jacksonville Jaguars remain the only team that has never played on this special date since its entry into the league in 1995.
With this programming, the NFL keeps alive one of its most beloved traditions, uniting American families around football, turkey and the passion for sports.
